It is easier for me to work on one day at a time. Long range goals seem to fall by the wayside. Have a great 2009.
NYR need to have a measurable, realistic goal in mind. 1 of my nyr/goals is to lose 20 lbs by April 1,2009. I weigh on jan 1,2009. I need to eat 33 weight watchers pts a day. I need to do 45 minutes of cardio a week. I need to avoid fast food, except for 1 trip a week.
We have to define the goal and be specific. Measure daily/weekly and focus on it.
I quit smoking and doing many other harmful things because I did it for me. I didn't stop doing it for my wife, my friends,etc..

I think NYRs are forgotten quickly. They are the resolutions we made yesterday (or last New Year's) and haven't gotten around to doing them yet. We may start them, but they don't last.
My daily resolution (or goal) is to be better than yesterday. Love more, give more, learn more and just generally be better. We struggle everyday with everything we aren't doing - focus on small improvements everyday (and start now whatever the day may be) and you may be surprised when you turn around at the end of the year and see what you HAVE accomplished.
Matt, I am not surprised that you would want to have measurable, realistic goals. You have that Focus strength!
