Healthier Eating

I am now 34, and I am beginning to realize that I cannot eat the same way I used to eat. At least, this is what our scale is telling me. So I have cut out fast food, except for healthy stuff.

I have been going to Subway, but last week I checked out Sub Planet, which is right down the street from the church and close by to Starbucks. They have a great menu. I also discovered today that the day after a Royals win, you can get a 6 inch turkey sub for $2. Now that is a great deal--and it is less than 10 grams of fat. Unfortunately, Royals wins aren't that common . . . But I am rooting even harder now for the home team!

Any thoughts on healthy or unhealthy eating? Has anyone seen "SuperSize Me?"

Well, you don't look any worse for wear in your pictures. ;-) Hope Becki doesn't mind an old friend winking at you.

I personally recommend The Genetic Key Diet by Dr. Steve Nugent. It is more a way of life than a diet. Also, a woman named Sue Gregg has some great cookbooks with healthy (and more importantly, TASTY) recipes.

Things look like they are going well for you guys. How was VBS?

Check out my blog, I will be adding some pictures of the kiddos soon. I am still learning, and I don't post as often as I would like, but I am having fun with it. Hope you don't mind I am adding yours to my list. Does Becki have one?

Say "Hi" to Becki for me. We miss you guys.

Hi Lisa. Good to hear from you. Yes, I've held up pretty well, but I would feel better with better eating and more exercise--something I'm trying to do. Thanks for the recommendation. Unfortunately, I do zero cooking, so I'll have to pass it on to Becki.

VBS was great. A lot of visitors came out, and many connections were made. I'm writing cards to them now.

I'll check out your blog. Stay in touch.

Dude, I love Planet Sub. The problem is I like the sandwhiches on the menu that aren't so great for me like the Chicken Parmesan.

Kim is currently doing LA Weight Loss and is really enjoying it.

We've found that even working out 30 minutes a day in addition to eating right can do a world of good.

I work with a guy that used to be a personal trainer. He told me the key is eating a little throughout the day. So, in the mornings I have a CLIF bar then a nice lunch then in the afternoon either a DETOUR bar or almonds then home for a smaller meal. Couple that with either working out or a walk with my wife and it's good to go.

I have seen SuperSize me and it's amazing what happens to McDonalds fries. Nothing. They don't decompose. Wonder what that's doing inside our bodies.

Looks like you guys had a great time on vacation. I just got back from Washington DC and it was hot but very humbling.

Talk with you soon man. We've got some big news on the adoption front. Check it out at www.vasquezaddition.blogspot.com.

Marc,

You know, once you add Ranch and cheese and other things to a salad, it ceases to become all that healthy. Same goes for subs, I guess.

You'll have to tell me about your DC trip. And I'll check out your adoption progress.
